Federal Minister Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari ne press conference mein bataya ke fiscal year 2023-24 ke dauraan, 10 government-run DISCOs ne Rs591 billion ka nuqsaan mulk par daala. Magar focused reforms ki wajah se yeh loss Rs399 billion tak reduce kiya gaya hai — aik historic breakthrough.
Leghari ne kaha:
“Yeh pehli baar hai ke kisi hukoomat ne itne bade losses reforms ke zariye kam kiye hain.”
DISCOs ki mismanagement aur recovery ka masla
Power Division ke numbers ke mutabiq, Rs315 billion ka nuqsaan sirf bill recovery mein hua, jab ke baqi losses bijli chori aur technical issues ki wajah se thay.
Recovery rate jo pehle 92.4% tha, wo ab 96.6% tak barh gaya hai — lekin phir bhi Rs132 billion ab tak recover nahi ho saka.
Leghari ne kaha ke:
“Agar yeh paisa recover ho jata, to hum qarz utar sakte thay ya development projects mein laga sakte thay.”
