From July 1, har cash withdrawal pe tax lagega — filers ko 0.3% aur non-filers ko 0.6% charge hoga.
Summary:
1st July se federal govt ne all bank transactions pe tax collection ka naya regime apply kar diya hai. Filers aur non-filers dono is change se effect ho rahe hain, with different tax rates on cash withdrawals, along with increased ATM card, SMS alert, aur interbank ATM usage fees. Customers frustrated hain aur banks pe pressure barh raha hai ke yeh charges revise kiye jaayein. Yeh steps allegedly cash economy ko encourage kar rahe hain, banking ecosystem ko nahi.
Govt starts taxing all bank transactions — new policy fuels public anger
Federal government ne 1 July 2024 se new tax regime ka aaghaz kar diya hai jisme har cash withdrawal pe tax lagega — chaahe aap filer ho ya non-filer.
- Filers: Agar aap rozana Rs50,000 se zyada withdraw karte ho, toh aap se 0.3% tax katega.
- Non-Filers: Unko same amount pe 0.6% tax dena hoga.
ATM aur banking fees bhi barh gayi
Banks ne apna Schedule of Charges update kar liya hai, jisme kai additional fees include hain:
- Other bank ATM usage: Pehle Rs18, ab Rs34 per transaction
- ATM card fee: Rs700 ka izafa
- SMS alert charges: Rs1,200 se badh kar Rs2,000 (Rs800 ka farq)
Ye additional charges bank customers ke liye double burden ban chuke hain, jisse multiple jagahon par staff-customer disputes report huye hain.
Cheque withdrawals par bhi tax kaat diya jaayega
Non-filers ke liye, agar aap Rs20,000 ya us se zyada ka cash cheque se withdraw karte hain, toh Rs522 ka tax deduction hoga.
Har bank ne daily withdrawal limits bhi set kar di hain:
- Standard debit card: Rs25,000 to Rs50,000/day
- Premium debit card: Up to Rs500,000/day
- Foreign card users: Equivalent of $200–$500/day
Jo transactions Rs50,000/day se exceed karti hain, un pe automatic tax deduction hoga.
International ATM transactions bhi mehngi ho gayi
Ab banks international ATM use pe bhi charges deduct kareinge — ya toh fixed rate hoga ya phir exchange rate ke hisaab se.
Banks under pressure, 1Link approached
Due to backlash, banks ne 1Link ko contact kiya hai for potential revision of charges. Bank officials warn kar rahe hain ke:
“Yeh excessive charges aur tax rates logon ko formal banking se door kar rahe hain — cash economy ko promote karte hue.”
Public reaction aur policy concerns
Customers ne openly frustration express ki hai, and many are complaining ke banking karna ab mehnga aur inconvenient ban gaya hai. Public aur private sector dono ko concern hai ke yeh measures financial inclusion ko hurt karenge.
